Truck Door Logos & DOT/MC Numbers: How to Apply
Everything ships ready to apply. These six steps cover truck door logos, DOT and MC numbers, and fleet lettering.
1
Clean the surface
Wash the area, then wipe it with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Skip wax, silicone and polish products. They stop vinyl from sticking.
2
Check the temperature
Apply between about 50°F and 90°F, in the shade and out of the wind. Cold glass or hot metal in direct sun will cause problems.
3
Position and tape it
Hold the graphic in place with masking tape across the top. Measure from the door edges, the window and the body line on both sides.
4
Peel and squeegee
Fold the graphic up on the tape hinge, peel the backing off, then squeegee from the center out in overlapping strokes with the transfer tape still on.
5
Remove the transfer tape
Give it a few minutes, then pull the transfer tape back slowly at a low angle. If a letter lifts, lay the tape down and press that spot again.
6
Press edges and rivets
Press down around edges, rivets and door seams. Pop any air bubble with a pin and press it flat. Wait 24 hours before washing.
DOT and MC numbers: before you stick them on, check your state and FMCSA marking rules for letter height and contrast. Mark a level guide line with masking tape so the numbers stay straight. Questions? Call or text 480-650-9314.
